Mr. Kwee Pwee Bok, the first generation or the founder, started making bipang (puffed rice cakes) and candy. At that time Pasuruan was known as the port city on the island of Java. No wonder that most bipang buyers were sailors. Kwee Ik Sam, Kwee Pwee Bok’s first child had an idea to name ‘Jangkar” means “Anchor” as the brand of Bipang in order to be easily recognized by sailors. Since then, the puffed rice cakes from Pasuruan was known as Bipang Jangkar.
Kwee Ik Tie & Kwee Ik Soen, the brothers of Kwee Ik Sam, as the second generation, managed the business of Bipang Jangkar.
besides bipang, the company started making biscuits and paper. Mr. Kwee Ik Soen made Bipang Jangkar on Jalan Lombok.
Bipang Jangkar produced crackers, gingersweets, shanghai peanut, snacks, and sweets as the other products. The variety and quality of bipang products was also enhanced by adding a variety of fruit flavors and using plastic / foil packaging.
